Fact: SRT’s Time Attack Viper Is More Intimidating Than God

Race-tuned technology and loads of aero make this the ultimate track-day weapon

The high-performance arm of Chrysler has revealed more information about its Viper Time Attack track day racer. SRT (Street and Racing Technology) has worked on the chassis and fitted an Advanced Aerodynamics Package to make this the most intimidating, track-focussed Viper on sale.

The SRT chassis dynamics team worked to make the Viper epic on the track, with a little slack allowing for daily use. The team calibrated a race-tuned mode for the suspension system, retuned springs and shocks, and fitted uprated sway bars, while a carbonfibre structural X-brace replaces the standard aluminium brace under the hood to increase torsional rigidity.

The Advanced Aerodynamics Package includes carbonfibre front splitters and rear spoiler to offer increased downforce at high speeds, as well as giving the TA an imposing presence. The added aero makes quite a significant difference, increasing downforce by 700 per cent at 150mph.

The standard Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres are now wrapped around ultra-lightweight, multi-spoke ‘Sidewinder II’ alloys, themselves housing massive new Brembo high-thermal capacity rotors and pads to keep things cool when braking hard at the track.

The engine has escaped SRT’s clutches, so the Time Attack gets the same naturally-aspirated, 8.4-litre V10 from the standard car. With 640bhp and 600lb/ft of torque, it’s hardly left wanting, though. The interior is fairly standard,
