The BMW 5 Series and its bloated wagon-like counterpart, the Gran Turismo, have received a few minor styling changes for 2014. For 2014 BMW has given its 5 Series lineup a minor styling update alongside some interior and engine upgrades. And yes, the Gran Turismo is as ugly as ever. The changes are slight but if you look closely enough, you’ll notice the 5 Series sedan (wagon is Europe only) and GT have a restyled front bumper with matte silver accents, the kidney grille is slightly reworked and the head and taillights are refreshed. Interior changes are also minimal, limited to minor upgrades to the iDrive control display and increased volume in the storage compartments and cup holders.

The GT’s trunk space has also increased by 2.1 cu. ft. Power options remain unchanged and US buyers can now have the 535d sedan, which has an inline-six advanced diesel engine that’s good for 255 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque. The top-line V8 that has 445 hp and 480 lb-ft now comes with BMW’s TwinPower Turbo and Valvetronic technologies. Xenon Adaptive headlights are standard while Adaptive LED headlights are optional. Also new are the 5 Series Luxury Line and Modern Line trim packs in addition to the M Sport package. A variety of new exterior paint colors, light-alloy wheels and upholstery colors round off the main updates for model year 2014.
