Don't blink, or you might miss the Hennessey Venom GT zooming by.



The gearheads of Texas-based Hennessey Performance Engineering recently released a video of their custom Venom GT breaking the record for world's fastest two-seat sports car with a staggering speed of 270.49 mph.

The group brought the automobile to the Kennedy Space Center shuttle landing runway in Cape Canaveral, Fla., for the feat, according to TheBlaze. The Venom GT raced down the 3.2-mile spaceship strip, reaching the record-breaking number in 2.1 miles, leaving the vehicle only 0.8 miles to come to a complete stop.

Brian Smith, the director of Utah's Miller Motorsports Park, was the lucky leadfoot to drive the vehicle to 270.49 mph. Outside representatives from Racelogic, an automotive technology company, were also on site to verify the figures, and everything checked out.

While the Hennessey Venom GT officially broke the record for fastest car, don't expect to see this silver beauty in the pages of Guinness World Records. There are only 11 Hennessey Venom GTs in existence, making the car ineligible for Guinness's "fastest production car” prize. Them's the brakes.
