The 2016 Mazda CX-3

Mazda splits the difference between crossover and hatchback with the 2016 Mazda CX-3.

It comes with a sunroof, LED headlights, heated side mirrors, heated seats, a navigation system, paddle shifters for the transmission, a head-up display and a Bose seven-speaker audio system.

The 2016 Mazda CX-3 will use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 146 horsepower and 146 pound-feet of torque. Front-wheel drive comes standard, while a new generation of Mazda's all-wheel-drive system is optional. Mazda estimates a front-drive CX-3 will return 29 mpg city/35 mpg highway, while all-wheel-drive models deliver 27 city/32 highway.

The CX-3 will also offer a bundle of Mazda's latest safety features (called "i-Activesense") including lane departure and rear cross-traffic alerts, automatic braking to avoid or reduce the severity of a frontal collision, rain-sensing wipers and adaptive cruise control.
