McLaren Reveals Production P1

McLaren's long-awaited new hypercar has been revealed, complete with performance specs, just days ahead of its official debut at Geneva.
Only a week before the doors open to this year’s Geneva Motor Show, McLaren has released official pictures and performance specs on its new hypercar. Differing only slightly from the concept version shown in Paris last September, the P1 promises to be one of the most devastating performance machines ever made.

Only a week before the doors open to this year’s Geneva Motor Show, McLaren has released official pictures and performance specs on its new hypercar. Differing only slightly from the concept version shown in Paris last September, the P1 promises to be one of the most devastating performance machines ever made. The main difference between this final version and the Paris show car lies in the air vents at the corners of the front bumper that aid in cooling and optimize downforce.
Also present are specially-developed Pirelli PZero Corsa tires and a tighter mesh for the rear-end vent. Just last week McLaren announced the P1 would be powered by a 727-horsepower version of the 12C's 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8, paired to an electric motor that adds another 176 hp for a combined total of 903 horses. With that much juice, performance would have to be time-warping, and now McLaren has released official (albeit somewhat approximate) figures. The 0-62 run is quoted at less than 3 seconds, 0-124 mph in under 7 and no more than 17 seconds to reach 186 from a standstill.
To put that into perspective, that last bit is 5 seconds faster than the legendary McLaren F1. Top speed, meanwhile, is electronically limited to 217 mph. To keep all that power and pace in check, the boys in Woking have fitted the P1 with a braking system on par with their own GT3 racing car. The performance is commanded from a simple but driver-focused interior of exposed carbon fiber. Production of the P1
